Live in Gallery Demo with Tim Vanya Saturday May 11th 11am - 3pm
Jill Pankey has established herself as an artist locally and in South Texas, particularly in the Coastal Bend area. She is still influenced by her roots on the Texas/ Mexican border town of Del Rio, where she grew up. She has always been drawn to rich vibrant color while incorporating them into her observations about life. Her day job was teaching as a Senior Lecturer at Texas State University in the School of Art and Design in San Marcos, TX. For many years she taught figure drawing, basic drawing, painting and foundation classes. As of 2014, her dream and now full-time job is painting.
Bob Pankey feels he's been creative all his life. In painting, he originally worked with graphite and ink mediums, but began to work in color after years of travel and developing the direction in which he wanted his work to grow.Robert enjoyss painting wildlife beause his observation of animals challenges him to explore their essence through color. In his current oil paintings, he has found that everything becomes a passionate response to the canvas. Robert uses a unique approach in his oil paintings and use bright expressive color and exaggerated brush strokes and his paintings are meant to capture the subjects with spontaneity, exploration and personal expression.
Tim Vanya has been oil painting since 2000, having spent the previous thirty years devoted to highly refined graphite renderings. His career has not always followed the "Way of the Artist"; he was a veteran Law Enforcement Officer in Houston, TX., delivery boat crew, cabinet maker, wood carver, philosopher and observer of life. He and his wife Kathy now make their home in the rural community of Somerville in central Texas. They live close to their two children. Their 100+ year old home is close to the cattle, horses, ranches and cowboys he loves to portray.
